Third-party warehouses and distribution centres buy palletizing capacity for a different reason than factories: not to save a bagging crew, but to feed an automated warehouse without becoming the bottleneck at the inbound dock.

What we typically install

Case and tray handling at the receiving line, full-layer picks from a grouping table, and a pallet pattern per SKU family. Where a site handles both cartons and bags, the KUKA 4-axis palletizer for boxes and bags is the usual build, and sites with a fixed arm inventory tend to standardise on the ABB palletizing robot with touchscreen pattern editing so the shift supervisor can add a SKU without a programmer.

Sector-specific problems we design around

  • Mixed SKUs on one pallet. This is a software and product-identification problem before it is a robot problem. We need the SKU list, the case dimensions and the layer mix you actually want to ship.
  • High-bay clearance. A cell that will not fit under 9m of racking is useless. Pedestal height, fence layout and the fork-lift approach are drawn against your building.
  • Casework quality. Crushed or bulging cartons defeat suction picks. Specifying a case squaring station is normally cheaper than chasing gripper pressure.
  • Shift-pattern change. Inbound volume changes by season; the cell must be reprogrammable from the HMI, with pattern files exportable.
  • Load security in transit. Stretch wrapping and slip sheets are part of the palletizing job, not an afterthought on the outfeed.

Result we plan for

A receiving dock that stops depending on who is on shift, and rack-ready pallets built to the same diagram every time. To understand what moves the cost of a cell of this type, read our breakdown of what drives palletizing robot price, or start from the quote form.
